George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin are engaged. Alamuddin, 36, is a British attorney who specializes in international law and human rights. Clooney popped the question sometime last week and last Thursday the pair were spotted at a Malibu restaurant with Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber, who are longtime friends of Clooney's at a dinner. Alamuddin had a big ring on her left ring finger. Clooney, 52, and Alamuddin, were first spotted out together in London in October.
Rodney Bryce, who made his mark on hip-hop under the name DJ E-Z Rock, passed away yesterday. A spokesperson for Bryce's friend and collaborator Rob Base confirmed the news to Rolling Stone. The cause of death has yet to be revealed. Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock released their first single, "DJ Interview," in 1986, but the 46-year-old Bryce cemented himself with 1988's iconic track "It Takes Two."
Adam Levine will be hitting the big screen opposite Keira Knightley for Begin Again, out in theaters in August. The two stars both had to leave their comfort zone for filming, with Adam having to act and Keira having to sing.
In July, the surviving members Monty Python will reunite for a series of live performances at London’s O2 Arena, marking their first time together onstage in 15 years. Tickets to the shows sold-out instantly; and audiences around the world will still have the opportunity to catch the troupe in action. Monty Python’s final live show, on July 20th, will be broadcast in 1,500 movie theaters across the world, 450 of which will air the show live.
Gloria Estefan has confirmed that her highly anticipated musical "On Your Feet" will officially get its Broadway debut in 2015. The musical will be bilingual, covering Estefan's dance music career, beginning with her early years in Miami, as well as her traumatic tour bus accident of 1990. "On Your Feet" will be accompanied by a reality show, in which Estefan and fellow judges will find talent to play teen Gloria and 20-something Gloria.
Brian Baumgartner of The Office married his girlfriend Celeste Ackelson Saturday in Los Angeles. Guests included Baumgartner’s old Office mates John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey and Oscar Nunez. It’s the second marriage for Baumgartner, who has a child with his ex-wife Julia Fisher. Baumgartner played Kevin Malone.
Chris Martin just did a three-episode stint on The Voice and now NBC will air a Coldplay concert special. The British group will push their 6th studio album, Ghost Stories, in a one-hour NBC broadcast scheduled to air Sunday, May 18th.
Tori Spelling has been hospitalized because of the pressure of her marriage collapsing and filming a reality show. The Lifetime series “True Tori” showcases what Tori and her husband Dean McDermott have been going through. They openly discussed Dean’s cheating with 28-year-old Emily Goodhand and they have been in therapy trying to work out their problems. Dean has a sex addiction he’s trying to manage.
Valerie Harper has been sued for $2 million by Broadway playwright Matthew Lombardo for failing to tell producers of “Looped” she had cancer. Harper was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2012, and she forgot some of her lines during rehearsals. He says he lost $500,000 because she didn’t tell him, but this comes after she sued for the remainder of her contract after pulling out of the production. As of now, she says she’s still not “absolutely cancer-free,” but is “cautiously optimistic” about her condition.
At the movies this weekend, The Other Woman snagged the top spot making $24.7 million bucks. Captain America: The Winter Soldier came in 2nd with $16 million bucks. Heaven is for Real took 3rd while Rio 2 came in 4th. Brick Mansions rounds out the Top 5.
