Here's a question I get a lot:  "Are you really WILD?!"  And to be completely 100% honest with you... NO!  I mean, the wildest I'll get is maybe dropping some vodka into my lemonade and going to town with the Swiffer in the house because I love to clean, things clean.

Some say trapeze is wild... mmmm... OK, fair enough.

The one thing I do consider wild, and I'm proud of this:  my hair!  It's always a tangled and knotty mess.  What-ev-er, I'll never be in a hair commercial, and I'm OK with that.  :)

Yesterday though, I made the decision to invest in a decent hair tool and consulted with my go-to girl, Steff for advice!

She recommended a Hot Tools iron with a 1" barrel.  So that's what I picked up... except that I didn't read the package describing it as a "marcel iron."

What is a marcel iron?!  Well, I found out shortly after I got home & took it out of the package.  I gave the handle a quick squeeze to open the jaws of life and.................. nothing happened!!

Marcel-style means, SPRING-LESS.  Meaning you need to hold it in a certain way to control the clamp yourself.  For a non-hair stylist spaz... this is challenging!  The best analogy I have for you is that it's like learning to use a pair of chopsticks.

However, 1 and 1/2 hours later after watching a great instructional Youtube video, and having some funky crimped pieces of hair... the marcel did an amazing job... once I got the hang of it!

What I love:  the top piece spins!  Again, once you can figure out how to hold it, you have more control!

Do I recommend this product?  Yes.

If you're someone who loves learning something new... it just takes some getting used to, but I'm very happy.  If you're more of a no-muss no-fuss type of person, stick with the springy clamp!

My only advice is to make sure you pay attention to which way you turn the iron... go with the clamp, not against or you will get creases!

And although Steff recommended Hot Tools, there are many brands out there in this style.  Just look for the word "marcel", or that long stick-like-looking piece!  Happy curling!
