Congratulations to Jessica Simpson, who gave birth to a baby boy yesterday: Ace Knute Johnson. The couple’s rep says the middle name honors her husband Eric Johnson’s Swedish grandfather. This is the second child for Jessica and Eric; of course they already have their baby girl Maxwell who was born in May 2012.
Jennifer Lopez is being blasted after performing for the President of Turkmenistan, despite the leader’s controversial record of human rights violations. After running through her biggest hits, she changed from a skimpy white dress into a long, traditional Turkmen outfit to sing Happy Birthday, Mr President. A rep for J.Lo said, "Had there been knowledge of human rights issues of any kind, Jennifer would not have attended."
The BET Awards went down last night in Los Angeles, Kendrick Lamar winning big bringing home awards for new artist and male hip hop artist. Nicki Minaj took home the award for Female Hip Hop Artist, Rihanna won for Female R&B/Pop Artist, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis won Best Group.
Contrary to earlier reports, Kim and Kanye's baby North West will not be making an appearance on Kris Jenner's new talk show. Apparently Kim will be introducing North to us in a photoshoot, but she has not accepted an offer yet. One offer is reportedly for 2 million dollars, which Kim said would be donated to charity. Kim and Kanye also claim they do not want to show North on "Keeping Up with the Kardashians."
Demi Lovato laid her father to rest at his funeral on Saturday. She tweeted, "Today I put my daddy to rest...hardest thing I've ever done...but I know great things will come of this #LovatoTreatmentScholarship". Lovato Treatment Scholarship will cover the treatment expenses of those suffering with mental health or addiction issues.
This weekend at the box office, "Monsters University" took the top spot again bringing in $46.2 million. "The Heat" starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy opened strong in second with $40 million. "World War Z" came in third with $29.8 million. "White House Down" opened in fourth with $25.7 million, and "Superman Man of Steel" rounds out the top five pulling in another $20.8 million.
