Did you see Jorge Posada throw out the first pitch yesterday? He was always one of my favorite players, so I was sad to see him go - check out this link to watch the video of Jorge and his son throwing the first pitch to Jorge Sr! A bunch of the current Yankees stood at the mound with him to show respect, such a great moment to watch.
Can't wait to get myself to the stadium this season!
Lots more to look forward to this spring with KTUphoria coming up May 20th, make sure you keep listening to win tickets! We've been giving them away the past couple weekends, hope to see you there.
I'm also getting married in May, but no big deal....?! It's right around the corner, May 11th, can't believe it came so fast - I guess that's what everyone says, though. I feel like I'm not really as stressed out as I should be, I'm afraid that means I'm missing something! Any advice from you, bridezillas? ;)
Ho Ho Ho! Merry Christmas, Happy 6th Night of Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Boxing Day...just trying to get everyone in here :) Whatever you're celebrating, I hope you're enjoying the holiday and spending it with those you love most. I got some great presents!! What about you? I love giving presents, there is no better feeling than watching someone open a gift you got them that you KNOW they're going to go crazy for.
On Christmas Eve, I went to the Jets/Giants game...ouch. If you don't follow football, we'll just say my Jets got destroyed by Big Blue :( It was still a good time, though, and we had a great tailgate with a good mix of Giants and Jets fans! Here is a pic I took of our set up in the parking lot:
Yeah, that's a TV. With satellite set up. There's also a nice spread of food and a grill off to the side that you can't see. We know how to tailgate ;) Anywho, hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday, and have a great break if you're off from work/school this week!
Just got back from a fun vacation in Las Vegas! It was about 90 degrees there all week, so the 50 degree weather when I landed in Newark Friday morning was a bit of a shock! Supposed to be gorgeous this weekend though, crisp and sunny Saturday and Sunday, so I'll take it.
After a much needed post-Vegas nap Friday afternoon, I got into the Autumn spirit and went pumpkin picking. I'm actually not a fan of the fall pumpkin craze that so many people seem to be into...pumpkin lattes, pumpkin coffee, pumpkin pie...no thanks. But I DO love pumpkin seeds! Don't throw out all your pumpkin guts! We scoop out the seeds, salt em up and roast em in the oven...sooooo good. I'm no artist, but I try my best with the carving lol:
At least the seeds were good...
Jets have a tough one tomorrow against the Chargers...hope Gang Green is ready. Catch you next week for Halloween weekend!
It's the most wonderful time of the year! Postseason baseball and the start of football. As a die hard Yankees and Jets fan, I am in my glory...although being the early bird that I am, I wish some of these late night games could perhaps be mid afternoon games ;) Got a chance to go to the Jets game a couple of weeks ago against the Jaguars. Here's a picture from my iPhone of the view from our seats:
We had a blast! I think in general, though, there's really nothing better than parking my butt on the couch in front of the TV with friends, family, and food! I hosted football Sunday last week, and one recipe I stole from Rachael Ray was a big crowd pleaser. It's SUPER quick and easy, and I love when I can impress my mom with my cooking ;) So here you go, use it this weekend as you watch the ALDS, NLDS, Giants, or Jets!
Turkey Corn Chili
In a deep pot, saute one chopped up yellow onion in a little vegetable oil. Add a pound and a third of ground turkey meat and let brown. Toss in a can of diced tomatoes, one chopped red pepper, 1-2 chopped scallions (I left those out of mine), and 1 1/2 cup of frozen corn kernels. Add about a tablespoon and a half each of chili powder and ground cumin, and 1-2 ounces of hot sauce depending on how spicy you like it. Let simmer for about 10 minutes, then serve with some tortilla chips, shredded cheese, and sour cream for toppers.
Enjoy, and thanks again to Rachael Ray for making people think I can cook. Have fun this weekend, and GO YANKEES!
