
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND
Grab your swimsuit:
All city beaches are finally open for swimming. If you are in Coney Island head over to the Cyclone at Luna Park, which will be open seven days a week starting tomorrow.
Go for a bike ride:
On Monday, the Citi Bike share program will launch is preview week for annual members, including 333 stations in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Also Bike and Roll NYC will offer free one-hour rentals on Governors Island.
Entertain the kids:
On Saturday take your kids to the Dinosaur Safari debut at the Bronx Zoo. The New York Aquarium in Coney Island, that was badly damaged by Superstorm Sandy, will be partially open.
Go shopping:
Stop by the Hester Street Fair ( on the corner of Essex and Hester streets). Besides browsing for vintage clothing, jewelry, home goods and more, you can take part in a ping-pong tournament this Saturday, and on Sunday you can shop at what is known as Manhattan's largest garage sale. Where local vendors sell goods way below price.
The Village Scavenger Hunt:
This Sunday for $24 in Washington Square Park at 12:30pm.
Do you think you know where the best pizza, falafel, cannolis and other cheap eats are located around Washington Square Park? This scavenger hunt pits teams against each other to prove that they know where to get the area’s best food.

Gotham Cup:
This Saturday and Sunday at Governors Island.
Want to see a bunch of guys with muttonchops, old wool uniforms, sticks instead of bats and all sorts of other old-time baseball type things? Then Governors Island is your destination this weekend for the annual Gotham Cup. Take the ferry to see baseball the way it was played around the time of the Civil War.
