The LA County Coroner’s Office released a statement regarding Paul Walker’s official cause of death. The 40-year-old passed away from a combination of “traumatic and thermal injuries,” meaning the impact of the car along with the fire. His friend Roger Rodas died upon impact, so burning was not noted as a factor of his death. His family has requested that in lieu of gifts, donations be made to Paul’s charity Reach Out Worldwide. So sad.
In addition to his Reach Out Worldwide charity work, Walker left a legacy of generosity including a story that was shared yesterday. Soldier Kyle Upham and his now wife Kristen were shopping for a diamond ring shortly before being sent again to Iraq in 2004 but thought the ring was too expensive that they were looking at. They struck up a conversation with Walker that was in the store and they left without the $9,000 ring. They were called back to the store, where they were presented with the ring. Walker had purchased the ring on his tab for them but asked to keep it a secret. Yesterday jewelry store employee Irene King shared it to show the actor’s true character. King said “He really did put his money where his mouth is and did good for this world.” What a great guy.
