(Jen Chung) The police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who almost attacked a police officer in the Bronx yesterday morning.

According to the police, at about 8:50 a.m., a cop noticed a man jumping a turnstile at the White Plains Road and Burke Avenue subway station. When the police officer tried to stop the suspect, the suspect "began to swing a wooden baseball bat at the officer and then fled on foot out of the station." The cop wasn't injured and the bat was recovered. Here's video of the suspect running:

The suspect is described as about 5'4" and 150lbs with a medium build, last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, black t-shirt, blue jeans and red sneakers with white shoe laces. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto Crime Stoppers' website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting their tips to CRIMES (274637), then enter TIP577.
