Wednesday morning WOR 710’s John Gambling talked with reporter Matt Granite from WKYC channel 3 out of Cleveland, OH. The nation has been captivated by the news of three Ohio women breaking free from their kidnappers after 10 years of being held captive.
Amanda Berry, Michelle Knight, and Gina DeJesus dramatically escaped 52-year-old Ariel Castro’s Cleveland home Monday after the three were kidnapped within a year of each other nearly a decade ago. Granite provided WOR 710 with the latest news surrounding the ongoing case. The story continues to change by the hour as new details emerge. There have been reports that police plan on doing excavations in the backyard of Ariel Castro's home. Granite told John that the excavations are "going on as we speak." There will likely be a lot of new developments as police continue to investigate the scene.
Granite also told "The John Gambling Show" that the suspect Ariel Castro reportedly comforted and hugged the mothers of the women kidnapped at vigils. Granite told WOR 710 that Cleveland remains upbeat. The escape of the kidnapping victims is being called the "Miracle in Cleveland."
