Christine Quinn on DOMA Ruling: I Couldn't Be More Proud of Our Country [AUDIO]
Posted Wednesday, June 26th 2013 @ 1pm

City Council Speaker and mayoral candidate Christine Quinn was on "The Joan Hamburg Show" Wednesday to talk about the groundbreaking Supreme Court decision to declare the Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional. The decision expands the rights of married gay couples across the country, allowing them access to more than 1,000 federal benefits and responsibilities of marriage previously denied them.

Quinn, who would become NYC's first openly gay mayor if elected this fall, spoke with Joan Hamburg about the decision saying it's "an enormous step forward." Quinn spoke about the woman whose lawsuit prompted the decision, 83-year-old New Yorker Edith Windsor, saying she "couldn't be more proud of her (Windsor) and our country."
