Neil Patrick Harris confirmed rumors yesterday that he'd been asked to take David Letterman's spot after the Late Show host stepped down. On the Howard Stern Show, Harris said speculation about a possible late-night show wasn't totally out of left field. He went as far as in-person meetings with CBS executives Les Moonves and Nina Tassler. Harris said, "They called me in and sat me down and asked if that would be something that I would be interested in doing." Harris turned them down for both Letterman's spot and the 12:30 a.m. Late Late Show. He says he would "get bored of the repetition fast, and the structure is so set that I don't have any interest in doing monologue, commercial, sketch, guest, guest, musical act, good night."
Angelina Jolie told People magazine that she and her fiance Brad Pitt are letting their kids help plan their upcoming nuptials. Jolie joked, "It's going to be Disney or paintball -- one or the other."
Justin Bieber took to Twitter last night to address allegations he attempted to rob a woman of her cell phone. He posted an image of a TMZ interview with a source who claims the accusations are false, writing, “It is hard to defend myself and my privacy every moment of the day. Then to see rumors. The truth will set u free. ... My mom raised me to be kind to others. I get judged, harassed, and I try to take the high road. Sometimes it isn’t easy. But we keep trying.” Bieber continued, “I will continue to be the man my mother raised. I love people and I will try to be kind even when things are not fair. Don’t believe rumors.”
Selena Gomez's management has stepped forward to deny In Touch magazine's claims the singer was pregnant and had a miscarriage in 2012. The latest issue of the tabloid is covered by a photo of Gomez with the title "Pregnant and Alone." In their main story, the publication writes that Gomez got pregnant while dating Justin Bieber, but had a miscarriage that led to the downward spiral that landed her in rehab in February of this year.
Kanye West has picked a best man for his wedding to Kim Kardashian and the honor is going to Jay Z. To say "thanks," Jay sent a gift to Kanye with an inscription referring to Jay Z as the rapper's 'Best Man. The gift was a gold-plated, diamond-encrusted flask, delivered with a $10,000 bottle of scotch, for Kanye to have for his wedding day.
Chris Rock will host this year's BET Awards. Rock announced he would be hosting the awards program on the show 106 & Park on Wednesday. This will be his first time hosting. Nominees were also announced yesterday. Jay Z, Beyoncé and Drake lead the pack with five nods each. Pharrell Williams and Best New Artist nominee August Alsina follow with four nominations.
Kelly Rowland really did get married in Costa Rica over the weekend. The singer married manager, Tim Witherspoon in an intimate ceremony during their island getaway. The couple hosted the festivities in two private residences, forgoing bridesmaids and groomsmen. About 30 guests attended the wedding. Beyoncé and Michelle Williams made the trip, along with Beyoncé's sister Solange and her boyfriend. Jay Z stayed home with daughter, Blue Ivy.
CBS announced yesterday that “Two and a Half Men” will officially conclude after its upcoming 12th season. The final episodes will air this fall at 9 pm Thursday nights. Even though ratings have declined over the past few years, the show remains the longest-running comedy on broadcast television.
The Oprah Winfrey Network says it plans to produce a documentary series following the life of Michael Sam, the first openly gay player drafted by an NFL team. The series will take an up-close look at the man recently drafted by the St. Louis Rams. Sam says it would be great if his story can lead others to accept who they are and go for their dreams.
The three original stars of the Harry Potter films will soon be reuniting for another adventure. Harry, Ron and Hermione will appear in new footage that will play during an upcoming Harry Potter Ride at Universal Studios in Orlando. The 3-D ride called Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts is set to open this summer. It will feature a recreated scene from the final Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie, and will be the main attraction inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter—Diagon Alley attraction.
Ludacris will host Sunday's 2014 Billboard Music Awards. The show will be broadcast live on ABC from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
